There are a few ways you can participate if you are interested. i think it will be really fun :) some options are more adventurous than others, hehe.
Your options are...
For my meat eating friends:
♥ eat vegetarian or vegan...one meal each week
...one day each week!
...one whole week!!
...for the whole month!!! (starting tomorrow i guess)
For my already vegetarian and vegan pals you can participate by:♥ blogging about your favourite vegan/vegetarian recipes
♥ blog your story! what made you become vegetarian/vegan? how long have you been vegetarian/vegan? any interesting stories?
Why should you Veg Out with me?
Everyone who participates in the eat vegan/vegetarian challenge and blogs about it, linking back here, will be entered into a draw to win some vegan goodies! for the vegans and vegetarians in the bunch, you will be entered into the draw if you participate in the recipe/story sharing. i'm making a list of some awesome items...but i'm going to keep it a surprise for now.
What will i be doing this month?
I will be sharing some of my favourite recipes weekly as well as telling the stories of how i decided to go vegetarian and then vegan. :)
If you are in leave a comment to let me know and you can also help spread the word by taking this button for your blog :)
let me know if you have any questions!
note: this idea was inspired by cute stew's "cool kids eat local" challenge that went on this past summer.
Yay for national vegetarian month! I'm a veggie and looking forward to your recipes. I'm always on the lookout for great new meals to try!ReplyDelete

Great idea! I'll definitely share my becoming vego story!ReplyDelete
this is cool! I'm not vegan but vegetarian. I love food but wouldn't eat dead animals. I love the colors of fresh vegetables, it's one of my favourite creative actions to cook a colorful, delishious veggie-meal! Yummy... :)ReplyDelete

The boyfriend is a meat eater. I could probably go vegitarian and still eat dairy <3 but I do like turkey burgers! *nom*ReplyDelete
I am a meat eater if there ever was one but I'm going to do this, I'm gonna do a whole week starting the 10th. =D I am really excited about this, I've been wanting to get healthier and what not and I'm sure this will help me. The button is going on the side of my blog right now. :)ReplyDelete
Great idea! I'll dig up some of my recipes and post about why I turned vegetarian.ReplyDelete
I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm joining in because I don't like cooking with too much meat and it is good to raise awareness about these issues. I'll go vegetarian for a week and post some vegetarian recipes :) Great idea!ReplyDelete
Love your blog! I'm new here. I was a vegetarian for a year until I got pregnant and now that my boys are mos. I'm slowly phasing myself off of meat again. I suck at cooking and just go with the basics but I may try some recipes from this!ReplyDelete
P.S. I've featured you on my blog today. Go check it out: http://mamamandolin.blogspot.com/2010/10/i-heart-mustaches.html

For anyone who lives in Toronto, the Toronto Vegetarian Association has a lot of useful information that can be found here: http://www.veg.ca/content/view/26/56/
They also give out prizes every 2 months to people who fill out a short survey and tell them their vegetarian conversion stories! (By prizes I mean veggie cookbooks and money that can be spent on Veg vacations and cooking classes)
Here's the link to the Prizes page: http://www.veg.ca/content/view/27/57/
its my 3rd month being vegan now, this will be fun because i was going to be posting recipes on my blog already and writing about why my husband and i decided to go vegan. count me in!ReplyDelete
My veggie story!
Sounds like fun to me! I have loads of veggie cookbooks - but my (by far) favourite is the "rebar modern food" cookbook! Who needs meat when you have a symphony of amazing dishes to eat?ReplyDelete
Sweet! I'm a back and forth veg. I go back to chicken a couple times a year. The Fall is my favorite time to cook veggie meals because I LOVE fall veggies.ReplyDelete
I actually am going to share one of my recipes tomorrow. I'd love to be a part of this!
I had to think about about it- but I'm in! I've been on and off the vegan train for a while (fish is my downfall), and this could be a kick in a healthier direction.ReplyDelete
http://rockangel.co.uk/2010/10/veg-out/ -- I'm joining in :)ReplyDelete
Awesome! I've been a vegetarian for almost 10 years and it's become such a part of me that I rarely think about it anymore. Definitely not a hindrance.ReplyDelete
For readers who think being a vegetarian is expensive, I say nay! You don't need to eat fake meat all the time (though it is delicious!). I usually stick to beans and tofu (you can get it super cheap at Asian markets) for my protein. I'm the only vegetarian in my family and I can say that it's definitely possible!
I've been a vegetarian forever!!ReplyDelete
I'm definitely participating in this!
Hey Eycia! I hope you are having a lovely weekend. Here is my veg story- http://nearsightedowl.blogspot.com/2010/10/my-vegetarian-story.htmlReplyDelete
Ooooh, hope I'm not too late to join in! While we are not stricly vegetarian, a lot of our family and friends are, and we find ourselves sharing the most amazing vegetarian meals most nights of the week. We did a blog post a few weeks ago featuring the most amazing veggie burger recipe we have ever tasted. Hope you like it! Love Tone and Div xReplyDelete
I've just posted a blog entry about it :)
This is going to be fun to read about!ReplyDelete
I've been a vegetarian and on-again/off-again vegan since I was 15, so I'm in. :) I've been working on being a little more on-again vegan recently, so this is a great challenge. Thanks for posting!ReplyDelete
it is what i do everyday girl! (: glad you are helping others make healthier and more humane decisions!ReplyDelete
