veg out

hi! so, as i mentioned, October is National Vegetarian Month. i thought i would put together a fun little project. so here it is...it is called...Veg Out with ♥elycia

There are a few ways you can participate if you are interested. i think it will be really fun :) some options are more adventurous than others, hehe.

Your options are...
For my meat eating friends:
♥ eat vegetarian or vegan...one meal each week
                                      ...one day each week!
                                      ...one whole week!!
...for the whole month!!! (starting tomorrow i guess)

For my already vegetarian and vegan pals you can participate by:
♥ blogging about your favourite vegan/vegetarian recipes
♥ blog your story! what made you become vegetarian/vegan? how long have you been vegetarian/vegan? any interesting stories?

Why should you Veg Out with me?
Everyone who participates in the eat vegan/vegetarian challenge and blogs about it, linking back here, will be entered into a draw to win some vegan goodies! for the vegans and vegetarians in the bunch, you will be entered into the draw if you participate in the recipe/story sharing. i'm making a list of some awesome items...but i'm going to keep it a surprise for now.

What will i be doing this month?
I will be sharing some of my favourite recipes weekly as well as telling the stories of how i decided to go vegetarian and then vegan. :)
I hope this sounds exciting! i'm excited! i'm not trying to force everyone to stop eating meat (obviously) i just thought it would be something fun to celebrate Vegetarian Month. i literally cannot wait to read your posts, if you participate, and who doesn't love the chance to win stuff!

If you are in leave a comment to let me know and you can also help spread the word by taking this button for your blog :)

let me know if you have any questions!

♥elycia

note: this idea was inspired by cute stew's "cool kids eat local" challenge that went on this past summer.

  9. this is cool! I'm not vegan but vegetarian. I love food but wouldn't eat dead animals. I love the colors of fresh vegetables, it's one of my favourite creative actions to cook a colorful, delishious veggie-meal! Yummy... :)

  26. I love that you're doing this!

For anyone who lives in Toronto, the Toronto Vegetarian Association has a lot of useful information that can be found here: http://www.veg.ca/content/view/26/56/

They also give out prizes every 2 months to people who fill out a short survey and tell them their vegetarian conversion stories! (By prizes I mean veggie cookbooks and money that can be spent on Veg vacations and cooking classes)

Here's the link to the Prizes page: http://www.veg.ca/content/view/27/57/

    Enjoy!!

  29. Sounds like fun to me! I have loads of veggie cookbooks - but my (by far) favourite is the "rebar modern food" cookbook! Who needs meat when you have a symphony of amazing dishes to eat?

  30. Sweet! I'm a back and forth veg. I go back to chicken a couple times a year. The Fall is my favorite time to cook veggie meals because I LOVE fall veggies.
I actually am going to share one of my recipes tomorrow. I'd love to be a part of this!

    HORRAY!

  31. I had to think about about it- but I'm in! I've been on and off the vegan train for a while (fish is my downfall), and this could be a kick in a healthier direction.

  33. Awesome! I've been a vegetarian for almost 10 years and it's become such a part of me that I rarely think about it anymore. Definitely not a hindrance.

For readers who think being a vegetarian is expensive, I say nay! You don't need to eat fake meat all the time (though it is delicious!). I usually stick to beans and tofu (you can get it super cheap at Asian markets) for my protein. I'm the only vegetarian in my family and I can say that it's definitely possible!

  34. I've been a vegetarian forever!!
    I'm definitely participating in this!

  36. Ooooh, hope I'm not too late to join in! While we are not stricly vegetarian, a lot of our family and friends are, and we find ourselves sharing the most amazing vegetarian meals most nights of the week. We did a blog post a few weeks ago featuring the most amazing veggie burger recipe we have ever tasted. Hope you like it! Love Tone and Div x
