good news!

hello! i had a super busy week, hopefully i'll have more time for blogging next week.

some good news: my bows and bow headbands are being sold at a hair salon in Hamilton near McMaster University! I took some on Tuesday afternoon and on Thursday morning they called to say they would like some more. i'm so excited and grateful that they let me sell them there! so if you're in the Hamilton area pop into Maison Fritz at 1686 Main St. West and take a look at my wares!
i'll be back later with my 5 favourites for the day but for now i'm going to make some new headbands!

we have had this coke bottle for so many years. it's almost full of pennies! i wonder how much money is in there. my cousin and i counted once when we were younger...i don't remember the total.

the dog ate some nickels and dimes.

the cheesecake stands alone.

here is the recipe for the chocolate tofu cheesecake i made. it's realllly good. strangely i think it tastes a little like banana bread.

Prep time: 15 min
Preheat oven to 350° F

crust:
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tbsp apple juice
2 tbsp canola oil
Filling:
1 lb firm tofu, rinsed
2 bananas
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
1/2 cup almond butter
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tbsp white miso ( soybean paste: i found this in the refrigerated section of an asian market)

Crust: Stir together crumbs, maple syrup, juice and oil. Press into bottom of lightly greased 9-inch (2.5 L) springform pan.  Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven for 10 min.  Let cool.
Filling: Rinse tofu and cut into medium sized pieces.  In food processor, puree tofu until smooth (this may take awhile). Add the remaining ingredients and blend until very smooth.  Pour over crust. Bake for 55 min ( it took me about and 1 hr and 10 min) in 350°F oven.  Let cool completely. Cut with serrated knife.

I didn't take a photo while the cake was whole. i'm lucky i got one at all.  I've shared this a lot and we've eaten quite a bit at home too. it's super good.

ps. even better are the brownies i made on wednesday! soo delicious. i'll have to share that recipe too.

ps. there will be some granny square headbands when my etsy reopens. photos coming soon!

something old.

these are some cool old cameras that my mom has as decorations in the house. we've had the black one since i was a kid but it was always kept folded up.  when i was little i knew it was a camera but couldn't figure out how the heck you would take a picture with it.  now that i've seen it opened up i understand, haha.
old cameras are sweet.
