I know there are probably tons of wreath DIY's floating around out there but I thought I would show you guys how I made mine. I wanted something really simple to hang on our front door. I didn't make it super "holiday" themed so that I could leave it up after Christmas. Here's what I did!
You can find these at craft stores. The one I got is not rounded on the edges like most I have seen. I still thought it would make a cute wreath.
I hung my wreath on our front door and I love it! I can't wait to make another one.
Another really simple option I considered for my wreath was just a cute little bow. I used this tutorial that Erin and Stephanie of Oh So Lovely Vintage shared on My Girl Thursday.
Have you made a wreath for your front door? Do you plan to?
This looks great. The colour of yarn you chose is perfect, it makes me want to swim in a sea of knitted afghans in that shade.ReplyDelete
I've still got my 'autumn' wreath up, which I made of ribbon and cardboard:
Have a great Thursday!
Well crap...now I have to make a wreath! This is soooo cute! Loving the button flowers. I will be en route to my nearest craft store (that I have coupons for) after work! Here's hoping the felines don't destroy all the yarn...ReplyDelete
Im planning to, ive got my foam ring and plan to wrapp in yarn like yours, might make some pompoms or corsages to go on mine! love the blue colour of yours xReplyDelete
Yes, I'll make a wreath, I do this almost every winter :-) I usually make a christmassy one, it's so much fun to do! Thanks for your tutorial!ReplyDelete
So Cute! I may need to make a yarn-wrapper wreath...they seem so easy and you can make it any color you want!ReplyDelete
That's a super cute wreath idea. I love the felt and button flowers.ReplyDelete
How Cute! I love the felt button flowers :)ReplyDelete
Love, love, love the pretty blue buttons with the red thread.ReplyDelete
I can not wait to change up the wreath we have on the door right now!!
Your wreath looks perfect and I really like the colors that you've used. I've made some Christmas wreath because I'm participating in a Christmas fair. I've also made a tutorial for making your own wreaths in any size you want (you won't have to buy them. You can take a look here:ReplyDelete
I love the simplicity of this! And of course, the yarny/button/felt goodness :-) I wasn't planning on doing a wreath this year, but I might give this a try, though I wouldn't waste it on my front door, no one would ever see it!ReplyDelete
That is the cutest thing!!! I love the wreath with the buttons :)ReplyDelete
Super cute! I haven't decided what kind of wreath I want to make yet but I've got most of the materials I need... now I just have to do it.ReplyDelete
I "winterized" a wreath I already had. It's a black feather one hat were all the rage a few years ago. I wrapped a silver snowflake garland around it and pinned a couple of glittery plastic snowflakes to the bottom. That way it can go back to being a plain old wreath after christmas!ReplyDelete
This is so adorable!ReplyDelete
I can't wait to try those flowers! Beautiful!ReplyDelete
um, that is super simple how you made the little roses, how did i never know about this little trick before? i have so much felt!! i know what i'll be doing tonight...ReplyDelete
also, come back to peterborough please?
I make these too! They are so much fun! you can check mine out here...ReplyDelete
Love the modern flare.ReplyDelete
Teal is my favorite color so I'm loving this! The buttons are super cute too!ReplyDelete

i love it! that color is so perfect! i saw on a blog once that she just pinned her decorations to the wreath so she could remove them and change it up for the holidays/not holidays/next holiday whatever. that way, she didn't have to make an entirely new wreath. even though, i now want to make one for every occasion. =]ReplyDelete
Awww! I love it!ReplyDelete
Great idea with the buttons in the center of the roses.
I never would have thought of that.
I made a Christmas wreath for the first time this year and I had a lot of fun!ReplyDelete
Now you've got me wanting to make one that can stay up year round. Hmm!
Lovely wreath! I made this one about a year ago http://www.flickr.com/photos/liefgeval/4915938388/in/set-72157623314164756 but never made one to hang on our front door, great idea, should get on to it :D!ReplyDelete
Oooh, you clever little ducky! I love it Elycia :)ReplyDelete
I like it. So simple and so pretty. The little flowers with button middles are my favorite!ReplyDelete
Ahh this is so cute!! I started to wrap a foam wreath in gray yarn but kept getting frustrated by having to cut pieces, wrap, glue.. Cut more pieces, repeat. But this is so flippin cute I think I need to finish mine today!! Thanks for the inspiration. :)ReplyDelete
P.S. those button flowers are all kinds of adorable!!
Hey Elycia! I LOVE your blog! And because of that I also made a wreath for my door.ReplyDelete
