Blog Questions - Hair

Hi!

You guys asked me a lot of great questions and I have kind of been answering them in categories to keep myself more organized. (yes it helps) Today I have the hair questions ready for you. Please excuse me if I 1. say your name wrong (I know what that's lilke, trust me) or 2. accidentally call you by the wrong name if I am answering 2 of your questions in a row...I may have done that.  So, without further ado...take it away video elycia from 1 week ago who still has light pink hair!

what i wore > new 'do

*pretend my nails aren't chipping! the colours match my dress so well!*
head to toe:
sunnies - some variety store in Jasper, Alberta
dress - vintage via The Paraders
belt - thrifted
cardigan - H&M
shoes - Blowfish

I am so crazy in love with my new bright pink hair! I loved the pastel pink but 1. it faded really quickly and 2. I only really liked wearing white while I had it. I felt like I was having a hard time matching my clothes to my hair. Maybe that is just me being crazy. Either way, I was ready for a change and I am really excited about this new colour!

See my brooch? This is one of two brooches that I received from the lovely Jacquie from Under the Shade of a Bonsai Tree. I love them both and you will definitely be seeing the other one soon. Isn't this one adorable? I love the little patchwork pieces and the hearts make it extra sweet.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

5 fave friday

Every Friday I am in major "get things done" mode. I used to have Thursday and Friday off but now that it is just Friday I have to squeeze everything into one day! yikes! I don't love having less time to do the things I love but...here are some things I DO love!

5. Lemonade
Pink, yellow...it is all good! All I want to drink lately is lemonade. Normally I am a water only person (well, water and iced coffee) but lately I am all about lemonade. Yum.

4. Floral shoes

Becoming a Pattern Shoe

3. Pastel nail polish

pretty pink!

I have a few pretty pastel shades that I used to do this nail design!

2. This dress!

So, so, so pretty! I can't take it!! This would look so fun with my pink hair!

1. This movie

I may have mentioned before how much I love Hamlet 2. I just rewatched this the other day and remembered how much I love it! So good.

what i wore > the one that didn't make it

head to toe:
scarf - thrifted
shirt - vintage
belt - thrifted
skirt - Billabong (actually a dress)
shoes - Blowfish

Let me explain the title...not that I didn't like this outfit...I was going to wear this when we went to see Harry Potter...but it was WAY too hot out. I was melting while we were taking the photos so I decided to change into this. Maybe I'll give this outfit another chance on a cooler day. I think it would look even more fun with some bright tights!

See the ukulele? That was another great wedding gift! Ivan said he would only take my outfit photos for me if I held the ukulele. I think he was joking but I thought it was a good idea!

ps. Monday night I dyed my hair a brand new bright colour! You may have seen a peek if you follow me on twitter or instagram (username: loveelycia). I took some new outfit photos today and I can't wait to show you my new 'do!

last call for sponsors!

Hi friends! I will be back tonight with a "real" post but for now I thought I would just let everyone know that I have a few large and small sponsor spots left for August. If you are looking for a place to promote your blog, small business or band you can find more info here or shoot me an email at loveelycia[at]gmail[dot]com.

Sponsorship will be changing a bit in the fall (October) so this is one of the last times to get in on the current offer ;). Thanks again to all of my great July sponsors! You guys are awesome!

what i did > in ohio!

Oh my goodness. Ivan and I had such a fun time with Kaylah and Kevin this past weekend. They know how to show their guests a good time.
You can't really beat a weekend full of cute kitties (who are so well behaved by the way...totally wanted to bring a few home).
Our hosts took us to so many fun spots, cooked us super yummy food and were just so fun to hang out with.
I really wish we were neighbours so that we could do this more often!
As Kaylah mentioned, we took tons of jumping photos! Ivan and Kevin got to play guitar together which was really sweet. And see, Doc totally wanted to be packed into my luggage! ;)

It makes me so happy that my blog has given me the opportunity to meet such great people. I feel like the blog community is such a great thing to be a part of.

I can't WAIT for the next time we see Kaylah and Kevin!!

cats > hawaiian party

Farva loves wearing things around his neck (I think it makes him feel fancy). Ivan and I had these leis left over from a Hawaiian themed family reunion so we decided to let the kitties have a little Hawaiian arty of their own. Farva had fun...
...Anakin did not. What a party pooper ;)

I will be back tomorrow with some photos from our super fun weekend with Kaylah and Kevin. You can see some of Kaylah's photos here; she made an awesome gif!! I will elaborate when I post photos...but let me just tell you that we had an amazing time!

5 fave friday

Hi! Oh boy, I am going to have a hard time concentrating today because tonight Ivan and I are going to visit this little lady. We could not possibly be more excited.

But, for now here are some things I really like this week.

5. Combining shades of blue
I have been kind of obsessed with pairing turquoise with darker blues lately. Such a good combo!

4. these frames from Warby Parker
I have an eye appointment at the end of August and I can't wait to get some new frames!! These ones are high on my list!

3. this dress is so fun!

2. this hair!!
I am so in love.

1. homemade popsicles
I realllly want to make yummy, fruity popsicles! Definitely on my to-do list!

I hope you all have a great day! I am planning another really productive Friday so keep your fingers crossed that I will be able to concentrate!

about me > my rings

I really like jewelry but I am usually not super adventurous with different pieces. I think it is mostly because I am forgetful. Pieces of jewelry that don't need to be taken off are the ones that I end up wearing every single day until they become a permanent fixture on my body. This happens most often with rings. Every once in a while I will add an extra ring or two for fun, but i have 4 rings that I have worn every single day since I got each of them. I thought it would be fun to tell you a little bit about them.

- Ring 1 -
This is my engineering ring. As you may know, I went to University for Chemical Engineering, and although I do not work as an engineer, I wear my ring everyday. The engineering 'Iron Ring' is meant to be worn on the pinky finger of your 'working hand' as a reminder to live by a high standard of professional conduct. You can read more about the Iron Ring here. When an engineering student graduates, they attend a secret (yes secret!) ceremony where we are given our rings. Sorry, I am sworn to secrecy about the ceremony! Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the tradition of the Iron Ring does not exist for engineers in the United States (there may be a few places in the States that do it though).  Any other engineers out there?

- Ring 2 -
This is my Grandmother's wedding band (my Dad's Mother). She passed away back in 2005 and I believe it was my Aunts who decided that it would be nice for me to have this ring. It is a thin white gold band with little notches on it and I love it. I think of my Grandma when I see it. My Grandma Watson was a very crafty and thrifty lady. I really should put together some stories about her, I think a lot of you would appreciate and relate to a lot of the things she did!

- Rings 3 & 4 -
My engagement ring and wedding band! These are 2 very special rings that I plan on wearing everyday for the rest of my life. They remind me of the commitment I made to Ivan and make me think about how much I love him (too sappy?). I am so happy that he is my husband!

So there! Now you know a little bit more about what is going on on my fingers. ;)
