Happy Halloween!

Here are a few peeks of what Halloween looks like around our house this year. We didn't put up many decorations, just a few little things.
I actually use these skeleton straws all year. This little guy used to have legs but they fell off!
I made this mini pillow a few years ago. Hehe, he makes me laugh.
My mom brought over some flowers and pumpkins to decorate our porch and walkway.
The best thing about Halloween? Kitties in costumes. This year we have a little Favie-Bee and Anakaterpiller.
Farva loves dressing up and wearing things. I think it makes him feel fancy. Anakin on the other hand...not a fan. He was a good sport though and let me snap a few photos.

Tonight Ivan and I will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. I'm not sure how many kids will show up because our street is kind of hidden! We'll see! I hope everyone has a great day!

recipe :: killer apples

Hi friends!

This is my absolute favourite thing to make for Halloween parties. I can't remember where I originally found this idea but I thought I would share it here with you guys. I also don't know what they are actually called so I named them "Killer Apples", ha! These apple snacks are super easy to make, look adorable and are delicious (as long as you like apples). So here we go!

1. Gather your apples and sliced and/or slivered almonds. Each apple makes four "Killer Apples". Usually when I make these for parties I like to use red, green and yellow apples for variety. Today though I just used red. You can use any apples that you like!

2. Get out a knife and cutting board and cut your apple into quarters.

3. Carefully cut the cores out of your apples. I like to slice halfway on one side and then finish the cut on the other side.

4. Cut a wedge out of the front of your slices (the part with the skin). Make sure you don't cut too deep or you will slice all the way through your apple!

5. Push the sliced and slivered almonds carefully into the upper and lower parts of your slice. Get them nice and close to the edge! I like to make some with all slivered almonds for creepy, weird looking teeth and then some with sliced almonds for most of the teeth and then slivered almonds for "fangs".

6. Serve and enjoy! If you are making these in advance for a party you can squirt a bit of lemon juice on your slices to keep them from browning.

If you would like to make these extra fancy you can make some kind of dipping sauce to go along with them. Something peanut buttery would be delicious!!

Oh yeah, and one of the best parts about these? You can bite into the back and "wear" them for silly photos.

Fun!! Let me know if you make some!

5 fave friday

5. These adorable Halloween nails! I think I am going to put some spiderwebs on mine. Great idea!
Angel has a lot of cute nail designs on her blog. And I also found this awesome site that she mentioned in one of her posts!

4. This dress is perfect!

And what a cute name!

3. This outfit post idea! Brilliant.
It is a 'Then vs Now' thing. On the left is how Andrea wore a denim button up when she was a kid and on the right is how she wears it now. So cute! I really want to try this, I was a hilarious dresser when I was a kid (and I kind of still am).

1. This pen/pencil holder.

I think that falls under the "NEED" category! I love it so much!

Today I plan on trying to tackle my craft room/studio. I have so many boxes to unpack in there! Yikes! But first I think I am going to put some dye on my head to brighten up my hair a touch. And then maybe if I have time I will paint some window frames. Oh, a homeowners work is never done. I am such an adult ;)

What are your plans for this lovely Friday?

what i wore :: in our new home!

head to toe:
dress - vintage
belt - from another dress
tights - mall

I am so excited to finally do another outfit post! It has been a while with the move and most of my clothes being in boxes. To be honest, a lot of my clothes are still in boxes but they are slowly making their way onto hangers. I pulled out this dress to hang up and then decided to wear it instead because I feel like it matches the vibe of our new home. Fun!

Can I just say that I am beyond excited to have a pretty coloured wall to take outfit photos in front of. I had this idea to paint one wall of my craft room with vertical stripes of all different colours so that I would be able to stand in front of different colours for different outfits. I don't know if I will actually do it...but maybe. How fun would that be?

Oh yes, and you may notice a new little bit of "arm art" as I have been calling it. It's still a work in progress but I figured that I wasn't going to go out of my way to cover it up since I think it is looking pretty cute.

I hope everyone has a fun day! I am going to spend the rest of mine emptying and breaking up boxes, organizing and probably vacuuming because, holy moly, with no carpets there is no where for cat hair to hide! Yikes!

cats :: adjusting

I am so happy to have these little guys home with us. We brought them over on Sunday night and I was a little nervous about how they would adjust. Farva was more adventurous and explored everything the first night. Anakin hid under different things in the bedroom. He would come out from under the bed and then go under the dresser, then he would come out from the dresser and go under the other dresser. Poor guy! By the next day Anakin was feeling a little more brave and explored the house. Both of the kitties like hanging out in the living room and I was able to snap a few cute shots of them. I love my guys!

I think they will love their new home soon enough. Do you have any stories about your pets adjusting to your new home?
