thrift find :: dolly dears

The week after Christmas Ivan was off work so one day we did a little antique shopping with friends. We went in this one store that is always super packed with random things and I found the most adorable thing ever!
I kind of had a small mental freak out when I saw this box! Inside are the prettiest paper dolls I have ever seen, and boy are they stylish!
Their clothes are supposed to magically stick to them but I guess since they are about 35 years old the magic has worn off.
As if they weren't already cute enough! Kitten and puppy shoes!
I'm in love! The day I got them I just kept taking them out of the box and putting on the different outfits. I think I have the brain of a 5 year old sometimes. They have so many outfits it would be ridiculous to show you all of them.

Have you seen dolls like this before? Do you have some?

  1. Ah, they are super cute! I used to have similar ones in Germany when I was little, my mom had given them to me from her when she was a child, I loved them so much! xxx

  2. Ah, I was drooling over a box of these on Etsy for a while.

    We had the ones with little paper tabs to hook the clothes on with when I was little - I don't think I properly appreciated them then.

  12. Haha! These are so cute! I love stuff like this. I love playing with toys and appreciating them all over again as an adult. My mum recently picked up an amazing doll's house at a car boot sale. It's quite similar to aussie style houses with a big terrace. She's currently spending her sunday doing it up and playing around with all the furniture. I'm extremely jealous!

  13. I can't get enough having time playing with paper dolls. I think we've got it in modern way such as looklet and Kimmi version (with magnet). Playing paper dolls is awesome. You have just got a treasure!

    I had a similar one when I was little, sadly I wasn't clever enough to keep it, so it's long gone. I'd love to still have it and play with it now!

  45. I had some paper dolls like those!! I knew exactly what they were as soon as I saw your picture. to be honest the clothes never did stick all that well. You'd have one all dressed up adorable ready to go visit the other and whoops! her clothes fell off halfway over! sigh. I wish I still had them though..

  46. I have a similar paper doll. She is called Mod Missy. She is packaged in a box just like your dollies! Too funny! I had to by Mod Missy when I saw her cos, well, my name is Missy, too!

  47. Oh I lurve these with a passion!

  48. These are adorable! I used to make my own paper dolls when I was little, but they were never as cute as this....they kinda looked like aliens, I wasn't the best drawer. haha.

  49. I have this exact set. I got them whn I was 5 years old. The "magic" is static electricity. Rub the clothes quickly back and forth on the dolls, head to toe and they will cling to the dolls.

  50. I had this set two...they were some of my favorites. I could always get my mom to buy me paper dolls. They were so reasonable.
