Photos :: 365 (September 23 - 29)

266/365 :: This is currently one of Milo's favourite games. Here he doesn't look too amused but he is usually smiling like crazy.
267/365 :: This is an example of me getting cocky and saying all day, "Oh, I'll take my photo later" and then almost forgetting and taking this one of me playing Plants vs. Zombies 2 in bed.
268/365 :: Arrrgh.
269/365 :: We swiped this from the recycle bin at Ivan's Grandma's house. Couldn't let this cool old bottle go to waste.
270/365 :: Once again, Milo doesn't look amused. In reality he has been smiling a crazy amount this week. It is such an awesome feeling to be able to make him smile and laugh!
271/365 :: I made these muffins again but used chunks instead of chips. As much as I love the chunks, I think the texture of these muffins is better suited to chips. Still delicious though!
272/365 :: A little father son piano time.

We had a good weekend over here. We picked up some paint chips to decide on some colours for a few home projects that have been on our list since we moved in. I think our bedroom is the first thing that we will work on and I am really excited because our bedroom is currently really boring.

Milo also got his passport photos taken and baby passport photos are pretty funny and kind of hard to take. I have heard of places that let you lay your baby down on a white piece of paper but the place we went to didn't. So...I had to hold him with a blanket covering my hands because a totally out of place blanket on his chest is fine but my hands in the photo is unacceptable. Silly passport rules. Obviously someone is holding this baby, he's three months old! Anyways, Milo was very cooperative and we got them done. Hooray!

Another new thing this weekend was that I started seriously exercising again which makes me feel fantastic. I tried exercising at 6 weeks postpartum but my body told me no thank you so I waited a while longer. I have kind of done a few things here and there but this weekend Ivan hung out with Milo on Saturday and even put him to bed on Sunday so that I could exercise for real. I have really missed it, it makes me feel so energized and great!

Ok, that's all I have to report from this weekend. I hope you all had a good one! Also, holy smokes, can you believe it is the last day of September?!

5 Fave Friday

5. Emma's stainless steel countertops.
We need new countertops because ours came with a nice burn mark. It was included in the price, we didn't have to pay extra! Ok, not funny, sorry. Anyways, I don't really like the look of most countertops but I love the idea of stainless steel. I could get into that!

4. I really like this laundry hamper.
Trompe l'Aundry Hamper from ModCloth
This would look great in Milo's room! Right now we are using a garbage can fitted with a big black garbage bag to hold his to-be-washed cloth diapers. This would be 100% more adorable.

3. I usually go for brighter decor but I love this!

2. These are really cute! Milo might need me to make him a pair.

1. Our friend's band released their first single on iTunes. Ivan taught the two brothers in the band and we even played in a band with them for awhile. Anyways, we always love whatever they do musically and we are really happy and excited for them!

I hope you all have a great Friday. I really should take a look at my emails today. Seriously, this is the worst my inbox has ever been. Everything has been opened because I can't stand seeing unopened emails but that doesn't mean I have been reading them/responding to emails. If you have emailed me in the last...um...month or two...I probably owe you a response. Can someone just come over and deal with that stuff for me?

Thoughts :: Thank you & Moving On

Thank you all so much for encouraging me to blog about whatever is going on in my life. I have always done that and it is always the advice I give other people in regards to blogging but when life changes so much in a short period of time it isn't always easy. I am getting pretty excited about sharing some things that I have learned so far in the parent department. If nothing else, documenting those things here will remind me of everything I learned in these early months if we decide to have another baby and I forget how to function for awhile.

Like I said, I have always been a firm believer in blogging about what YOU want to blog about but I think the problem was I just wasn't sure what I wanted to post about. I am pretty consumed with parenting and baby related things at the moment but did I want to take my blog in that direction? I know people can sometimes be touchy and even judgemental about other people's parenting choices. I was also nervous about addressing certain subjects that I feel passionately about because I don't want people who have made different choices to think that I am saying there is anything wrong with their choice. I always try to avoid judging other people's choices because being a parent has taught me more than ever that we all just do what works and what we feel is best for our child. I am hoping that people will extend the same courtesy to me but I know that is never a guarantee on the internet and I'm okay with that. My blog is meant to entertain and if people find entertainment by picking apart what I say, making fun of it or choosing to be offended by it then I'm okay with that too. Obviously that's not my preferred form of entertainment but I'm saying that sincerely, at the end of the day I really don't mind.

So I am going to move forward and continue to post about what has me interested from week to week which will definitely include more baby related things. I am also getting re-interested in decorating our home so I hope to share some of that once it gets underway. Some of these projects have been on the list since we moved in almost two years ago so I'd say it's about time to start some.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!!!

PS. This is one of my only posts that doesn't have a photo! I could go search for one but I have a pie in the oven and a baby on my lap so I'm just keeping it real. Or is it keepin' it real? I feel like that comes across better.

What I Wore :: Basics

:: head to toe ::
glasses :: c/o BonLook
sweater :: c/o OASAP
skirt :: c/o ModCloth
belt :: thrifted
shoes :: c/o ModCloth

Ok, I know I shouldn't point out everything that is wrong with these photos but holy smokes, I don't know why my boobs look so lopsided. Probalby nursing related. Yeah, let's blame that. The other problem is my wrinkly skirt! I did in fact steam it and thought it looked ok but I guess I wasn't wearing my glasses because...wrinkles. Despite the wrinkles, this has quickly become my absolute favourite skirt. It is so easy to slip on and it has pockets!

All right, I think that covers everything. Oh wait, I just remembered that my skirt has dried baby pee on it. I really didn't need to tell you that one.

On a different note, I am having some weird feelings about blogging lately. I still love it but for the first time I'm really struggling with what I want to post about. I haven't been making time to craft anyting lately and my life at the moment pretty much revolves around Milo and getting out of the house to socialize with other Moms to keep myself feeling connected to the world. I have always posted about what I'm doing and what I'm interested in so I want to stay true to that but at the same time I'm sure you guys don't want all babies all the time. I do plan on talking a bit about cloth diapering and babywearing (new interests) but again I know that non-moms will likely not care. I know that I will find a balance but I think it will just take a bit of time to settle in to.

I didn't really plan to mention (I actually never thought I would mention something like that on my blog) but I needed to say something because I'm sure you have noticed my sporadic posting. I'm the type of person who needs to tell you that I might have spit on you while I was talking because I don't want you wondering if I know that I spit on you. Of course I mean that accidental spitting that sometimes happens...I don't go around spitting on people. Whatever, I'm getting way off topic.

I think I kind of forgot that this was an outfit post. Look I'm wearing clothes!

Baby :: 3 Months Old

It's crazy how much more interested in the world Milo looks in these three month photos. It is harder to catch him not moving now and I'm sure it will just get more difficult as he gets more mobile. He smiles so much now and has conversations with us. Well, baby conversations with those adorable little baby noises.

I'm typing this Monday night and Milo has a bit of a stuffy nose that I'm hoping doesn't turn into a cold. We will see I guess! He has also been really drooly so maybe it's teething related. I have read conflicting things about runny noses and teehing being related.

I know you want to hear more about Milo's runny nose and possible teething but it will have to wait because he needs some snuggles before bed.

Photos :: 365 (September 16 - 22)

259/365 :: My fancy new wrap for wearing Milo.
260/365 :: Have I ever mentioned my love for blind box toys? I especially love the South Park ones. I'm missing my two favourites though, Stan & Butters.
261/365 :: Milo looks exactly like baby Ivan here.
262/365 :: I went over to my Dad's with three bags full of grapes from our backyard and came home with 10 litres of grape juice. It is a little clumpy but very delicious.
263/365 :: Ay yi yi.
264/365 :: Milo has been doing a bunch of grumpy talking lately and it is really cute.
265/365 :: My mom came over Sunday morning and we spent some time playing with Milo in his room. He was pretty grouchy yesterday but his Grama did a great job cheering him up!

Only 100 photos to do! Kind of unbelievable that there are only 100 days left in this year.

Milo turned three months old on Saturday and I snapped a few photos of him next to his carrot that I will share probably tomorrow.

We had a pretty chilled out weekend. Ivan brewed some beer, I watched some TV, entertained a cranky baby and even managed to take some outfit photos. Outfit posts are some of my favourite things and I have been really bummed out that I haven't managed to take many lately. I really need to set aside time to do them more often.

Did everyone have a good weekend?

Wish I Wore :: Fall!

:: Breathtaking Tiger Lilies Skirt :: It Takes Mew Shirt :: Textbook Cutie Cardigan :: Stepping Stone Path Tights :: Mild as Maize Bag :: No Bows About It Flat ::

You know when you write a word and then look at it and think that it can't possibly be a word. That's what's happening with me and "fall" right now. I am slowly losing my mind.

This is pretty representative of what I have been wearing lately. Except that this weekend was the first time I wore tights and I only carry around a diaper bag. It is a pretty nice diaper bag though because I made it myself and I only make things that look nice. That's a total lie. I make a lot of things that don't look nice...like our couch pillows. I did a terrible job on those and Ivan really wants me to redo them and do crazy things like actually take measurements.

I guess I'm in one of those "I think I'm really funny" moods today where the only person I am really amusing is myself. That's ok, if you can't make yourself laugh then how are you going to make anyone else laugh? Is that a real saying? It should be. I'm pretty sure I've said it before. Ok, I'm finished.

Have a great Tuesday!!

Photos :: 365 (September 9 - 15)

252/365 :: Ivan's Grandma's house was recently sold so we gladly took this old radio while we were emptying it. It still works!
253/365 :: Whoa, my tongue looks scary and kind of gross in this photo. I just noticed that. Anyways, it was unbelievably hot on Tuesday and I was melting.
254/365 :: I made myself some bubble tea...sort of. It actually wasn't that good. I was impatient and didn't cook the pearls long enough and then I didn't really sweeten it at all and the berries were a bit tart. Better luck next time self.
255/365 :: Do you like pears? Want some? We have tons from our tree. I made muffins, cookies and the most delicious pear pie ever! I'm going to make more of everything and freeze a bunch of stuff as well as hopefully can some pears this week.
256/365 :: Aww, Mom! I got some really cute striped shirts for Milo for the cooler weather. And they are a bigger size. He's growing so fast!
257/365 :: So...this is an iPhone photo and I'm totally ok with that. We had a crazy Saturday and I left my camera at home. We were major party animals and didn't get home before midnight! Also, I just tried out the headband method for curling my hair again and I like it!
258/365 :: I walked inside to find all of the cats on the same couch so of course I had to take a photo. This doesn't happen often.
This was probably my most "off" week when it comes to this project. I was thinking that I wasn't going to even like the photos I took but I really do. I like that they tell a bit of a story even when there isn't anything necessarily amazing about them. It is going to be so neat to have a photo from each day this year. I'm sure looking at it will bring back memories of the day. I have already decided that I definitely want to continue this into 2014! (which is just around the corner, yikes!)

We had kind of a busy weekend and the weather was beautiful. It is starting to feel like fall around here...pear pie helps.

5 Fave Friday

5. I'm a pretty big fan of this shirt dress from Stranger Bird Vintage.
Jenny is currently having some car troubles so to raise the funds she needs she is offering a huge 35% off with the code CAR35.

4. This shirt from Kin Ship Goods reminds me of Twin Peaks. I'm starting to think that everything reminds me of that show. Maybe I should just start letting you know when something doesn't remind me of Twin Peaks.
3. This is a pretty fantastic calendar. Rifle Paper Co. has the prettiest stuff. They totally need a Canadian version of this.
Side note...I always want to spell 'calendar' calendEr. I don't know why, I guess I like E's.

2. These Monopoly themed items are amazing.
Quenching Victory Water Bottle from ModCloth
Power Through Notebook from ModCloth

1. Yes please to this.
It's a popsicle mold!!! Come on, that's just too cool!

Oh boy, I disappeared again. It is really hard to drag yourself away from a cute baby. I have also been baking a ton this week with any spare sleeping Milo moments. We have a whole bunch of pears so I have been making muffins, cookies and will be attempting a pie today or tomorrow.

I have also been getting out to a lot of baby group things which is completely awesome. In addition to the ones I mentioned before I have started the Mother Goose program through the Ontario Early Years Program and it is great. Who knew having a baby would be so great for getting me out of the house! Next up, swimming lessons. Have I mentioned this already, am I a broken record. Seriously guys, Mom brain is a thing. I need to make a list of all the weird stuff I have been accidentally doing and tell you about my brain on babies.

I hope everyone had a good week! I will definitely be blogging next week and I hope to talk a bit about my experiences with cloth diapers so far.

Photos :: 365 (September 2 - 8)

245/365 :: These two buttheads hanging out on the couch. They look pretty tough in this photo.
246/365 :: Why buy tissue paper when you can reuse the stuff that came in baby gifts!
247/365 :: So lazy during tummy time.
248/365 :: Pinny really doesn't look at all like a kitten anymore. Still acts like one though!
249/365 :: Oh! Surprised!!
250/365 :: Ok so Milo's ear is in focus instead of his face but this is just too cute. Snuggling with his Dad.
251/365 :: I got a good deal on some green Toms (have you guys heard of Ebates.ca or Ebates.com? I just discovered it and it's awesome) and then decided to wear them with purple pants.

Lots of Milo and lots of cats...what else is new.

It looks like a great day outside so I am going to see if I can figure out taking outfit photos by myself with a baby. It sounds easy enough so let's see if I can make it happen.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
