28 things - thing 6

I really dislike making phone calls. I'm pretty sure I have already told you that though. Normally I don't mind so much if the phone call has a purpose, like if i need to ask someone an important question or something. However, I really avoid making appointments. Especially if it is at a place I have never been before. I am determined to get a tattoo this year though...anyone want to make my appointment for me?

  1. Jen, my wife, is THE SAME WAY!!! I make all her calls for her, especially appointments. ^_^ I can get the same scared feeling sometimes, but I'm more eager to just get this or that done, that I make the call anyway. Haha. I did call my own tattoo place to find out prices and proceeded to listen while getting all nervous and wondering if I was asking the right questions. >.>;;

  2. Thank god I'm not the only one!
I'm always BEGGING my boyfriend to make certain calls for me. I hate being on the phone with people I don't know. For some reason I'm always messing up my sentences.

Ofcourse, I have to make some calls a day on my work. I then try to be a big girl and not make a fuzz about it :p

  3. I'm the same way, girl. Not with appointments so much as with just major phone awkwardness. I worked at a job where I had to call clients and I got a little better. But I even feel awkward talking to my best friend on the phone. What is my problem?!?

  4. I'M EXACTLY THE SAME. I want a tattoo but don't know where to start - that first phone call seems the scariest :)

  6. My mom is always telling me to call someone about this or that and I just can't. Mostly the doctors office. I haaate calling people to ask questions. I feel like they are going to yell at me.

  8. When you call (Cause I know you will!) ask if you can bring a friend & if so how many! Make a day of it with people you DO know. I say go meet a few just pop in casually and see who YOU click with, who makes YOU comfortable! :3

  9. I've heard it's easier to call for someone else acting like you're their assistant. Then it's more like a job and it's not so personal to you. So, yeah, I'll call for you if you call for me? :)

  10. I will gladly make an appointment for you! I can make appointments like that, but doctor appointments are a different story. I can't stand making them, normally because I don't enjoy going to the doctor.

  12. haha! I have to make tons of phone calls for my parents. Business or even just regular so I am used to making them but I still always get like this mini little tiny anxiety attack when doing it. I have no idea why! :]

  13. the call will totally be worth it... but be careful, tattoos are really addictive (i have 5 and want more) and you will find yourself making lots of calls soon. what tattoo are you thinking about getting?

  14. I love this project. So much. Also, I'm the worst phone-phobic you will ever meet. I let every single call go to voicemail and only call back if they leave an important message. I realize this is bizarre, and I'm working on it. but not that hard because I'm terrified. I hate the phone!

  15. I'm the same! I'll buy if other people call when we get pizza because it's worth thirty bucks to not phone! hahaha weird.

Also, you can call me at work any time to make a tattoo appointment, I'm super nice. :)

  16. I call for you! :)
I don't like making phone calls to people I don't usually call, I'm always scared it'll be so awkward!
I'm sure you can work up the courage to call, elycia :)

  17. Oh i feel your pain, I too hate making phone calls!
Can't you walk in and book an appointment in person? I actually prefer that

  18. I am the same way about making phone calls. What if they ask a question that I don't have an answer for?! I don't want to sound stupid!

  19. I don't mind phone calls because they can't see me. I hate having to ask people to find me stuff in shops cause I feel like they will think I am stupid for not being able to find it myself.

I just started a vintage store on etsy and this dress that I have made me think of you straight away. Not sure why but everytime I see it it reminds me of you (that is not meant to sound as crazy stalker as it does :P

  20. Oooh my goodness, we need to be friends. I'm the exact same way. I had to call to make an appointment to have my tires changed the other day and it took me forever. I've also needed to call to cancel my Directv account for about 4 months and I still haven't..
P.S. This is why my tattoo artist and I are facebook friends. Yay facebook messages! haha

  21. I hate talking on the phone too, but you should do it! Or else just go into the tattoo shop! Then you could meet the artist and maybe that would be better for you!

  23. I agree with the above comment, you should absolutely meet the artist first. The shop most likely wont take a new client over the phone and might even want to you leave a $deposit anyhow. Good luck! I never answer my phone, i hate not knowing if there will be a clear way to hang up, so thankful for texting!

  24. I totally have a phone phobia, too. Glad to hear so many other people do, too! I will not call anybody for nothing! Still have my mom make my appointments. I also usually ignore my cell phone calls. If they leave a vmail, Ill just text them back. haha
Also, you should see If the tattoo shop or artist has an email address. For my last tattoo I just emailed the artist and it was nice to be able to explain what I wanted thoroughly without being nervous. :)

  25. i know exactly what you mean! Believe it or not i often right out what I have to say because as soon as I get on the phone I get super nervous and my mind goes blank. Even on my business cards I have put my house number, so there is a possibility my mum can pick up for me because I am too scared!!

Glad there is others like me out there :)

  26. You can always walk in and make the appointment. Actually, I would never call to make an appointment, unless I knew the place and we were working on something large.

  27. haha i will call for you!! come to peterborough and you can get tattooed by my friend tedd, then you don't even have to call. he's done a few of my tattoos and did chantilly's sewing sleeve (mygirlthursday)

  28. I hate calling people too! I hate placing orders for food over the phone too.

I used to be friends with my tattoo artist so I always just had to text him for an appointment, but I usually just walk in and make an appointment when I get tattooed :)

  29. I'm getting mine sometime this year -- we can be tattoo buddies. I'll totally book the appointments.

We can both get A+E 4EVER inside a heart.

  30. You are too cute! :)
You remind me of my sister - she's the smartest, greatest gal I know, but she HATES making appointments - she's coming home to Tampa next week and asked me to make her an appointment and to go with her lol I did ;) She won't order pizza either lol
you should just go into a tattoo shop - talk to someone face to face :) Take a bud if you don't wanna go alone! If we were closer I'd take you :)

  31. ME TOO! Let's make each other's appointments.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You should just go in - instead of calling!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ahh ME TOO! I hate calling people I don't know, to make appointments, and do put it off for ages, like right now I KNOW I need to call the dentist to make a followup but I can't do it..I used to always get my mum to do it for me when I lived at home, and then my gf used to always do it for me too, but she stopped to try and make me do things myself..so I just avoid it more hehe ;) Goodluck, I hope you do make that appointment.
    xx

  34. i think a lot of people hat making phone calls!
and FYI...those of you that suggested walking in to make the appointment, i am equally nervous to walk in and make it! haha. i definitely don't like phone calls but i also don't like making appointments :)

  35. I'm exactly the same way. .. Here's my suggestion about getting a tattoo though. I have 12 tattoos, and I never once called to make an appointment. Each time, I went directly to the tattoo place with a friend. We'd go in and look around, to see what the place was like and get a feel for it. From there, I made the appointment. Even though either option is kinda scary, I much prefer doing things in person rather than on the phone. & It was a lot easier since I brought a friend with me too. Perhaps you could try that?

  36. lol - um, totally me in a nutshell, there. I *loathe* the phone! lol. It's definitely worth the call, but I feel ya. Sending some courage your way!

  37. Your quirks are the absolute cutest! Why don't you go in to make the appointment? I'll even go with ya! Haha.
