photos :: goodbye summer flowers

So, it is the last day of September and I thought that I would share a few photos of some pretty flowers from our garden that I took back in July.

I really love this hydrangea plant. The flowers were so pretty as they were blooming and they look really cool now that they are all dried out. They are still sitting there on the tree looking all pinkish brown and lovely.

When we moved in there were rose of sharon taking over all parts of the garden. They look so ugly during the winter and I wanted to rip them all out but i'm glad I left some. They grow like weeds so I will need to make sure they don't start springing up everywhere but I do love them along the hedge in our front yard.

I think the pink ones are my favourite...or maybe the white ones. Whatever, I'm indecisive.

Oh, and on the day that I was taking these photos my nails were really fancy.

I am excited for fall leaves but I will miss my summer flowers. I hope next year our garden looks even better.

5 Fave Friday

Photobucket
5. ModCloth has too many good dress right now.

a. Plaza Boutique Dress from ModCloth  b. Let's Get Physiological Dress from ModCloth  c. Flight Hearted Dress from ModCloth d. Flourish de Lis Dress in Cinnamon from ModCloth

If you are as crazy about any of these dresses as I am you can get $20 off your order of $50 at ModCloth up until October 2nd if it is your first ever ModCloth purchase. There are so many awesome pieces for fall that now is a great time to take advantage of that. Also, I'm trying not to shop so I like to live vicariously through other shoppers and get excited for them!

4. This plate is awesome!!!
Kaylah and I have talked about staying at a wigwam hotel and I think we both need one of these plates. Also, along with the plates there are tons more things in the Curiosity Shoppe Collection.

3. Recipe cards
I have a lot of great recipes but I have been thinking lately of writing my favourites onto cards or into a mini book so I don't have to remember what cookbook it came from.

2. These fancy shoes

1. I love this.
I really love seeing how different people style the same piece of clothing. I get kind of geeky about it actually. It is just so interesting to me! Anyways, Elsie and Emma look so cute doing this little feature! Oh and just as I was about to post this I noticed that there is a behind the scenes video...another one of my favourite things!

This week has been a busy one for me. I hope you are all having a good week!

Home :: Papered

Hey remember when I added some paper to the hutch in our living room? Well, I just continued the project over to the kitchen by adding the same paper to the built in unit in our kitchen.

The paper looks a lot more subtle in the built in that it does in the hutch because it is a bit deeper and doesn't get as much light. It does brighten it up a bit though and I'm pretty into it. Also, just noticed that the calender was not even close to the right date when I took these photos. Oops!

I hope everyone is having a terrific Thursday!

EDIT: I have received a bunch of questions about this papering so I will let you know some more info about what I did.

The paper is actually just regular old paper on a roll that I picked up at a garage sale event in Ohio. This restyle is actually really great for people who are renting and can't do anything permanent because the paper is attached to the back of the built-in with painters tape. It holds well but is extremely easy to remove when/if you want/need to.

This project was super simple, I just measured the height and width of the back of the cabinet and then measured and cut the appropriate amount of paper to cover it. Like I said, I then used painters tape to attach the paper to the back panel of the unit, starting in one corner and smoothing it over to the other side. Easy!

What I Wore :: Little Black Dress

bow :: I made this!
glasses :: Coastal/Clearly
necklace :: c/o Creature Comfort
dress :: Simply Sensational Dress from ModCloth
socks :: Forever 21
boots :: Lady in Rad c/o ModCloth
bag :: thrifted
mood ring :: from when I was a kid

See, I told you I would wear these pink glasses all the time. Also these boots will be getting a ton of wear because, although they are so annoying to put on, they are really comfortable once I have them all laced up. Oh and because the colour is so good!

I picked up this little bag while I was on a thrifting adventure with Andrea earlier in the summer. I plan on using it as a travelling makeup bag but it is too cute not to bring out as a purse every now and then. The colours are some of my all time favourites and I love almost any kind of vintage floral print.

Oh yes, and my mood ring. I fell in love with mood rings as a child after I saw the movie My Girl. I loved that movie so much and thought Vada was the coolest girl ever. I also loved the drinking glasses that her dad's girlfriend had in her trailer. Oh, and all the music in the movie. Basically everything about it. So yeah...I still love mood rings and this is the same one I had as a kid.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Photos :: Jellies

One of the coolest things I saw while we were visiting Chicago with Kaylah and Kevin were jellyfish. After a crazy morning of trying to find parking near Shedd Aquarium on the first football game day of the season we finally made our way to see the aquarium and the special Jellies exhibit. I hope you think jellyfish are as neat looking as I do because you are about to see a whole swarm of them.

Don't they blow your mind?! Maybe they just blow my mind. Jellyfish are so awesome to take photos of because they just look so interesting. Kaylah and I both agreed that we probably took more photos of jellyfish than of anything else.

Wanna hang out in October?

Photobucket
I feel like this is a very cheesy, "sponsor my blog" smile and pose. Just me being casual, no big deal.

You may have noticed (if you have checked out my sponsor page) that I am now using Passionfruit Ads to manage my sponsors. October will be a fun month so if you are interested in joining me as a sponsor you can reserve an ad directly from my sponsor page. Your ads will go live on October 1st and will run for 30 days. After October 1st you can actually sign up to sponsor whenever you want and your ad will go live right away, as long as there is room for it. Isn't Passionfruit cool?

If you have any questions please email me at loveelycia[at]gmail[dot]com. I would love to hear from you! Oh, and the Feature spot is still available for October. This is the first time in quite a while that it has been up for grabs!

What I Wore :: Back to Pink

scarf :: thrifted

dress :: Remember Wren Dress from ModCloth
shoes :: c/o B.A.I.T.

After being really tempted to keep my hair white for a little while I ended up dying it light pink again basically the first chance I got. I am so happy I did. This is one of my all time favourite colours for my hair to be. The only thing that is driving me kind of crazy is that I can't smooth it out with a straightener. Mine broke at the beginning of the year and I didn't replace it because I wanted to stop heat styling. This colour is really making me wish I had one!

When I bought my light pink glasses I knew that they would look so cool with matching hair and I will be getting a lot of wear out of them now. When my hair was blonde I had trouble wearing them because I felt like they stuck out too much and didn't match super well with many things. Now they will always match! Well, until I change my hair again.

Ha! I just noticed something really funny in the first photo. There is a strange bump around my ribs...can you guess what it is? Ok, I'll just tell you. It's my camera remote! I threw it down my dress so that I could use both hands for the photo and I didn't even notice that you could see it until right before I was about to post this. I'm just keepin' it real here people.
