DIY :: pom-pom card holder

I have another super easy DIY for you guys today. Like...super super easy. As long as you can make pom-poms that is. I recently got myself a pom-pom maker but you can also make them with a piece of cardboard. Although the finished product in that tutorial looks a little sad, you could definitely make a not sad version. So here is what I did...
Thread a large needle with yarn and pass it through the centre of your pom-pom. I did not cut a specific length of the yarn I used to do the threading. I cut and fasten it off at the very end.

Keep stringing until you have enough pom-poms so that there is a pom-pom for either side of each of your cards.

I used the edge of a mirror to hold up my pom-pom garland. If you are not using a mirror you will need something to secure your pom-poms to the wall. See the loose ends? That is so I can adjust the pom-pom spacing and yarn length once my garland is hung. Once you are happy with the spacing, tie a little knot right beside your end pom-poms so that they don't fall off and cut any remaining hanging yarn.

Hang up your cards! We have a bunch more cards up there now and it is looking pretty cute!

What did you do to display your cards this year? Any fun ideas?

  12. Me gusta! I just did plain old twine & clothespins with buttons on them. Which is ok because it is already stuffed with Christmas cards.

  15. This looks so cute, like little snowballs. :)
    I painted a block in my entry with chalkboard paint, then drew a brick fireplace and hung a scrap piece of wood for a mantel and taped my cards up around that...it looks great! And it really warms the place up.

  16. So cute! I love the way the pompoms look with the cards! I tend to make my cards into wee little boxes, and then reuse them next year in little stacks around my house, like this: http://www.sanguiknitie.com/2011/12/05/diy-christmas-boxes
