some happy little things

A little while ago I had a day where I finally got a few things finished that had been on my list for a really long time. It made me feel pretty fantastic.
Used some of my new favourite fabric to make a little gift for a friend.
Mailed two packages to two lovely ladies.
Hung our mushroom bird feeder!
While I was outside I enjoyed a few things in our backyard. I don't spend a ton of time out there (because it is winter) but I can't wait to get our garden going and prune our fruit trees.
I admired my accidental lawn art. I spray painted a bit of the lawn a while ago. Oops!
I really love the door leading to our garage. It has three teardrop windows and it is peeling like crazy. I think it looks so adorable...but we probably have to do something with it so it doesn't fall apart.
On my way back inside Farva was waiting at the door yelling at me because I didn't take him outside.
He is so cute when he is yelling!

I have been feeling just a little off these past few days but I think I'm finally back to normal and I am really excited about some of the things coming up soon on the blog. Stay tuned!

PS. I am currently watching the South Park movie and laughing at the Canadians saying "aboot". We totally don't say aboot!

  1. awwww!! I love it when cats yell!! :) PS That bird feeder is SO cute!! I wish we could have bird feeders around our house, but stray cats visit our house and it isn't fair to the birds to have someone hunt them while they eat!! :/

  2. Haha, I don't know anyone who says aboot either! I do, however, find myself saying 'eh'.

    1. I only really say 'eh' as in "i know, eh?" At least I think that's the only time I say it!

    2. I find it only really sounds silly when you throw it at the end of sentences that don't require it. Such as: "how's it goin, eh?" I think it's a perfectly fine replacement for "huh". I'm definitely guilty of saying "i know, eh?"

  3. We get a lot of that accidental lawn art too :) I love your mushroom bird feeder, what a find!

  4. Oooo! What kind of fruit trees do you have? We have two different orange trees and I have no idea how to take care of them. The fruit has never been very yummy but they smell delightful though.

  5. When I used to work for Apple tech support, some yanks would try to tell me I was saying "aboot". I really think some of them just hear it that way because that's what they expect. And because I don't have an American accent. "Abowwwwwwwt"

Needless to say, it made me bitter. ;)

    1. hahaha! Sometimes when I say it really fast in a sentence I can see why it sounds like aboot. Accents are so interesting!

  8. Ahahahaha...the photos of Farva yelling made me laugh at loud at work. I blame me getting questioned on what I'm doing on you :p Totally worth it. I LOVE when my little lions yell...I try to keep doing whatever made them yell in the first place because it cracks me up.
The bird feeder is to darn cute too!
I hope you're feeling not so out of sorts...it can really put you in a funk! You as in the general use of you...not you in particular. Wowza...that was a mouthful!

  10. I've spent a lot of time in Vancouver and I heard "aboot" quite a bit. I love hearing it - v v charming! Off the topic here but my nephew has always pronounced been ("ben") as "bean" so I think he must have been Canadian in his past life! :-)

  11. Oh I know accidental lawn art. When I was in high school my bff & I made some Senior yr tee shirts for the first day of school, and we accidentally sprayed one of my parents trees. Which last time I checked still had a big pink stain on it.... 8 years later. Not to mention, talkative kitties are the cutest!

  12. I love this little peak into your world, feels a bit like I'm being super nosey...but they are your pictures and its ok haha. This is the second blog I have commented on today talking about feeling a bit off lately. Do you think it is a change of seasons thing or this solar storm my daughter keeps telling me aboot (haha) I have been feeling like curling up and reading/ sleeping for a few days now, ugh! I think I am just stating to feel a bit better (or am taking care of myself through it more)...either way I'm ok with it for now, can't always be super cheery and 'on it' eh?
    Sending you hugs o o :]

    1. I know! When I first started reading blogs I felt like such a creep cause I knew so much about these random people!

Maybe it is the seasons changing. I think that really does affect me. I'm feeling better but for a few days all I wanted to do was sleep! Not always being super cheery makes me appreciate the times when I am feeling fantastic even more.

      How aboot that eh?

  13. I've been feeling 'off' for the past few days as well. And, you're right, we totally don't say 'aboot'.

  18. whattya tahkin aboot?! hehe john and i like to say that in our "canadian accent" that we got from watching mike myers and bobby's world when we were kids.=)

    oh and pretty outfit above!

  19. So many cute things! Love the fabric and I am swooning over the mushroom birdfeeder! Our super pudgy (and greedy) squirrels would break something so lovely for sure. (They have mangled every bird feeder we've had over the past year and even actually drug the last one away.) I love sending out packages. Well, not paying for it. More like the wrapping of the goodies and adding notes and stickers and such. Annnd lastly, your cat cracked me up! I love animal's and their distinct personalities.

  23. haha i think some canadians say aboot, not distinctly but a hint, my printmaking teacher is from north dakota and kinda says it like that :P

  24. Canadians definitely do say "aboot"... at least a little. Americans say more "a-bow-t" as in to take a bow, where as Canadians say more "a-bow-t" as in a bow-tie. If that makes any sense. But my favorite part of South Park Canadians are the square wheels and their mouths which aren't even connected, lol.

  25. I love this post! Such a cute idea. Just might have to steal it sometime. ;)

P.S. Your kitty is adorable. <3

  26. Hah! I briefly lived in Quebec last year and everyone said 'aboot' there, I found it so funny! Maybe it's more of a regional thing that doesn't apply to other parts of Canada?

    ReplyDelete
  27. lol okay I just commented on this on your vlog post with Chantilly... but you both do say "about" so cute, especially Chantilly! Its not exactly "aboot" its more like "aboat" or something. ;)
