The first place we visitied in Seattle was Pike Place Market. We stayed at the Belltown Inn which was only about a 10 minute walk from the market. On our first day there we were up really early so we headed to the market for breakfast and just walked around. Since it was so early it was really peaceful and not busy at all (like we would soon find out is the norm for the market).

These photos were taken over a few different market visits. The last photo shows some beautiful mountains which I think are the Olympic mountains. When I saw them a few days after our first visit to the market I wondered how I didn't notice them before. Well, it was cloudy the other days and so the mountains were hidden until the sun came out. On sunny days we saw mountains all over the place! Seattle is so beautiful.

During our time in Seattle the market was kind of my home base if I was out walking around. I knew there were washrooms there with change tables, snacks and of course a photobooth. All very important things.

  1. Those mountains look like the Mounties, which way were you facing? 'Cause I think you can see the Canadian West Coast from Seattle. I looooove Cherry Blossom trees, so beautiful. I used to go to UVic and there were Cherry Blossoms in front of our building. I loved this time of year because the petals used to fall like a rain of pink fluff. :)

    1. We were facing...North? I think?

Yes! The petals falling are almost as beautiful as the trees!

    2. Eh, I thought I remembered seeing Seattle from Victoria, but I might be wrong.

  2. Mom and I visited some family in Seattle when I was 9 or 10, and she still talks about how gobsmacked I was by the guys flinging fish across the walkways in Pike's Place Market. I guess it made a big impression on both of us! The thing I remember best is driving past a mechanic's/towing place with a "Toe Truck" outside - yes, a little truck with toes on it! Pretty sure this is it: http://winktimber.com/reader/images/odyssey-toetruck.jpg
Oh, the things you remember as a kid...You all seem like had an awesome trip, judging by your gorgeous photos, hope you too have some wacky memories ;)

    1. Yeah, the fish flinging was neat but I was also nervous I was going to accidentally walk in the middle of it.

      That truck is soooo cool!!!

    1. You will not believe this but I didn't have a single coffee while in Seattle. Except the free stuff in the hotel (which was Starbucks). I loooove coffee but only drink decaf now and honestly I felt like a turd ordering decaf in Seattle. I don't really know why. Ivan doesn't drink coffee at all so we didn't go for coffee anywhere.

  5. You definitely visited at the right time! I'm currently living just outside of Seattle, my recent adoptive home, and it's now turned back to down pour and rainey. Glad you were able to see how it is here when it's actually spring. Hope it was a great time :)

  6. Aw, what great shots of the market. I'm so glad you got to see Seattle's beautiful landscape. When the clouds clear and you can see the mountains, I immediately forgive the 8 months of clouds and drizzle. :)
