recipe :: mexican hot chocolate mocha

Good morning friends! (or good whatever-part-of-the-day-it-is-where-you-are)

Yesterday I started my big tattoo and I love it so much so far. I can't wait for it to be finished! It is hard to be patient!

For now I wanted to share a yummy recipe that I made up for a Mexican Hot Chocolate Mocha. I made mexican hot chocolate cupcakes a while ago and loved them so I was eager to make my own drink version. I have never had an actual mexican hot chocolate so I don't know how close this tastes to the original; this is just my take on it based on a cupcake recipe. That works right?

If you already know how to make a mean hot chocolate or a mean mocha you can follow your own instructions and just add the secret ingredients...
Cinnamon and cayenne pepper! Yum.
WARNING...do not add as much cayenne pepper as you see in the photo. Just put in a little pinch. As for the cinnamon, I love it so I added quite a bit. Maybe a quarter of a teaspoon or so. Add these things to the mug first in case you put in too much by accident it is easier to start again. My mug looked like this...
I made my chocolate mocha the mega cheater way by using a Starbucks instant coffee package, hot water, hot soy milk and chocolate syrup. I filled the mug (with the cinnamon, cayenne and instant coffee already in it) about 1/3 of the way full with water, mixed, and then added the soy milk and chocolate syrup to fill it up.
Oh I want one right now!

I know those were kind of loosey-goosey instructions but you get the idea. Let me know if you try it out!
