what i wore :: golden

head to toe:
glasses - Warby Parker
dress - Gourd Garden Dress from ModCloth
cardigan - target
belt - thrifted
tights - gift from my mom
shoes - ModCloth

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and that you are now enjoying a relaxing Boxing Day! I am not big on Boxing Day shopping so we will probably just be chilling out today. Is Boxing Day just a Canadian thing? On my calendar it says "Boxing Day (Canada)".

I am so crazy about the colour and neckline of this dress. Last time I wore it I paired it with really bright pink tights. This time I went for a more neutral colour scheme which I also love.

So, when I take these outfit photos I open up our big window that faces the street to let a lot of light in. While I was taking the following photo, I saw one of my neighbours walking up our driveway (to put something in our mailbox) which caused the following face.
That is me seeing my neighbour and hoping that they can't see me! You can't really see in during the day because of the glare on the window and I am crossing my fingers that I wasn't caught taking photos of myself by a neighbour I have yet to meet!

Do you worry about being "caught" snapping photos of yourself?

PS. Isn't that little ceramic kitty adorable?

  1. Cute outfit! We have boxing day in the UK too (actually I guess Canada has it from being part of the commonwealth, I think it's originally a British thing).

I always worry about being caught taking photos of myself, it's one of those only bloggers understand moments.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas!

  4. Oh Elycia, I am just completely in love with the colour of your wall! It's so pretty and every time you post pics witht that wall in the background I admire it. (Mind you, that dress is super-cute, too! ;) )
Funny how your calendar pretends Boxing Day was a Canadian thing only. I think Boxing Day happens in most English speaking countries, though. I know it's happening in the States and the UK, as well as in Australia, New Zealand etc. In Germany we don't have Boxing Day, though. (Which I'm glad about because no matter how good deals you get, I just don't like it when I want to go shopping and every single store is packed with people.) In Germany, Dec 27 is the second Christmas holiday so the stores are all closed and people spend time with their families just like the do on the actual evening of Christmas Eve when we get our presents and everything and on Christmas Day.

Kirsty, I know exactly what you mean! Yesterday I did a photoshoot with myself, just me and the camera, but then my family unexpectedly walked in and they all were like: "What did you take pictures of?" And I was like: "Um... a... you know... the tree... and stuff..." Awkward.

  5. I think Boxing Day is a British thing; apparently you're supposed to give money to folk less well off than yourself, but these days on Boxing Day everyone just gives money to the shops...

    Anyway you look so pretty!
Today in Italy we are off too because it's St.Stephen day (the first catholic martyr), so Italy has big celebrations for it(we have the pope here -_-") and even if i'm not catholic i have a day off, yeah!

I think boxing day is just a Canadian thing. Today I'm going to Staples to buy some new pens. Real exciting but maybe they'll be on sale? haha

  9. I worry about being caught so much!!! It's really awkward when you're taking a picture of your self and you're running back and forth from the camera, and then someone you know drives by... um... yeah ;) I think boxing day is a canadian thing... I dunno why ;)

  11. I love this dress! The shoes are also wonderful... I found a pair almost identical, slightly lighter in color, at a local thrift but was so sad when they did not fit!

And yes I always worry that I'll get caught taking photos of myself...a few weeks ago I got caught dancing around playing my tin whistle by our electrician, that was embarrassing! I was entertaining a 2 year old though :P Your worried face is wonderful!!

  25. You are like the cutest person ALL THE TIME. How do you do it? Teach me how to Dougie (Elycia). Bad joke.

Today I was trying to take a selfie with my iPhone at starbucks to send to Jackson and I was soooo paranoid people would notice and think I'm a freak haha.

  27. I am so paranoid about being caught taking photos of myself! But I guess I have to every once in a while if I want any decent pictures of me to exist, because I always look terrible if someone else is taking the picture!

  28. Boxing Day I think is just another reason to have a bank holiday for the country to allow for more time to enjoy family and gift giving rather than throwing yourself into work mode right after a major holiday. The states don't observe the day after Christmas, unless Christmas is on a Sunday :(
