photos :: grumpy farva

My two kitties are basically complete opposites of one another in so many ways. Anakin loves being brushed, Farva tries to attach the brush. Farva likes having his teeth brushed, Anakin acts like you are trying to pull out his teeth. Farva loves going on his harness, Anakin feels too embarrassed because he knows he's a cat. Anakin removes himself from uncomfortable situations and hides under the bed while Farva plants himself right in the middle of them and dares you to question his logic.
We are having some house guests at the moment (including a kitty loving 2 year old) and Farva is basically permanently grumbling about something. I keep telling him that if he wants to be left alone he can't sit there staring at people and looking cute but he just won't listen.
I feel a little bad for the poor guy but I really need to get a video of Mr. Cranky-Pants in action.

Do you have a cat who insists on staying in situations that make him/her uncomfortable?

  2. haha Totally! El will just sit there giving some of the best greasy looks I have ever seen - if looks could kill.... or at least seriously maim. :) My dog, on the other hand, doesn't know the meaning of uncomfortable situations, as anyone within eyesight is instantly his very best friend - total friendship slut :)
    Sending Farva comforting thoughts :)

  3. Oh my god, even grumpy, he is SO CUTE!!! So. Cute. How can you leave that alone?! Put me in an area with kitties and I'm like a two-year-old... If they're sleeping soundly, I can't help but blow a raspberry on their fluffy tummy.

Note: cats do not appreciate this. ;)

  5. Your pets are adorable! I had a dog who was the very same way. She'd be really grumpy around little children who tried to play with her. She'd just remove herself from the situation and go sleep on her bed. I'm still certain she never considered herself a dog. She was a real sweetheart, though. :)

  6. Your cat is So cute!!! My baby Tiger doesn't like it when strangers come over to the house. She burrows herself under all the covers on the bed and squirms down to the foot of the bed and stays until they leave. It is really quite cute walking into the room and finding a tiny bump at the bottom of the bed!! :)

  7. They are so dear... I have never had a kitty just pups (always someone allergic... we now have a toy 10 month old poodle... only 8 pounds so kind of the size of sweet cat). Scrolling through the daily blog reads came across a post that had a pic of a cat puzzle that reminded me of your description of your two felines... post here (just scroll down a bit): http://www.nearsightedowl.com/2012/03/sunday-thrifting.html#disqus_thread

  8. My cat used to sit on your Leo, get annoyed when you would stroke her too much, so jump off of your lap... Then 5 minutes later she would be right back up again, and the cycle continued! She was just too cute to get annoyed with though :)

She also completely hated dogs, absolute hatred. She once took down my aunties Alsatian by whopping him on the face and making a pretty bloody nose on the poor guy :( we always had to hide her when a dog came around! X

  9. I love the detail of your cat's tongue in the first picture :) It's fun learning their different personalities over the years. One of our cats turns into a wild beast around people and will hiss, growl, and try to attack them so now we have to put him in a bedroom before company comes over. I wish he would remove himself from uncomfortable situations instead of freaking out!

  10. I love talking pets with people! So its nice to read posts about other peoples too! I have two dumbo rats who are brothers but couldn't be more different and it amuses me no end! haha

one is so squirmy and the other just loves to be held and have his fat belly scratched! however they both like to pester me endlessly when they're out, no matter what I'm trying to do, they need to like, get in on the action! haha :D

Poor Farva, I hope he cheers up soon! ... although I totally want to see the grumpy kitty video ;D

  12. my cat scampi has to be in the middle of everything. for example last night my husband was messing with his coin collection and had some clear plastic page protectors spread out on the coffee table. Scampi jumped up MORE THAN ONCE and slipped off the table (she is fat so it is extra funny) and would run away scared! then come back and do it again and yowl! sucha weirdo. and when we have guests over who don't want her in their lap, she keeps coming back, and will sometimes sink her claws in so she can stay. such a jerk! haha.

  13. Your cats are adorable! I only have an awkwardly naughty bunny and a hides-in-his-shell tortoise but they're quite full of character too :D

  14. so cute! i totally understand... my male cat pickle loves everyone he meets, cats, dogs, house guests, the neighbours, whoever, and my female cat, peanut, absolutely hates everyone and everything, including pickle, and my boyfriend... she kinda likes/tolerates me, but she´s so funny with her angry ways, you just can´t be upset with her...

  17. I'm turning into such a cat person. I just adopted my foster cat-and am now banned from doing any more fostering because we'll end up as hoarders! I can't believe you get away with brushing teeth though! I try to brush my dogs teeth sometimes, and they just eat the chicken flavoured toothpaste and then bite on the brush.

  18. Our cats both hide from things which annoy/scare them, but Gizmo does KEEP jumping on top of the tall bookcase even though he comes crashing to the floor about 70% of the time - we know it humiliates him because he always runs and sits in a corner, washing himself frantically and stealing glances at Polly to see whether or not she noticed.

  19. My cat Remus does not like being picked up and held. I pick him up, he launches off of me, and then comes back to me to be pet. Over and over and over.

My mom's cat Weasley just sort of glares at us when we do things he doesn't like.

  20. Our hand raised kitty Stubb Nubbs, is very particular about anyone but my husband and me. She basically refuses to let anyone pet her or pick her up. She will slap them and walk away, but she always puts herself in the middle of the room to draw attention to herself whenever anyone is over. Our older more mature cat, Pooka loves everyone and welcomes the attention, only when company is around she is usually off somewhere catnapping! Cats are so peculiar.

  21. I love how you can see his precious little pink tongue in the first one! Cute kitty overload!

  22. Scarlett, absolutely. She gets so stressed out when there are any more than three people in the apartment, but instead of hiding out somewhere quiet, she insists on being around everyone and just acting generally perturbed.

We're supposed to cater to her. I guess I forgot for a second.
