vlog :: When can I start a sponsorship program

Today Chantilly and I tackle the "When can I start a sponsorship program?" question. It's a tough one you guys, and a question we have both been asked quite a few times. Check us out below to see what the heck we have to say about it. We actually have a lot to say about it as you can see by the video length. Also, I love the screenshot that YouTube choose to represent the video. Chantilly looks like she's rapping and I look like I'm saying "Yes this is really happening...Chantilly is rapping".
As always, we would love your feedback on this topic. It has been so fun to share these videos with you and we can't wait to make some more the next time we get together (which will be soon!).

Today I'm spending the first part of my day with this lovely lady. We'll be scooting around Hamilton checking out some stores and maybe drinking some tea. Having house guests is so fun.

  1. I really enjoy these vlogs, I think it's important for bloggers to realize that it's okay to not be worried about the numbers of followers, subscribers, and pageviews all the time.

These was definitely a topic that I was curious to know about, and I love the little bloopers clip at the end.. VROOM VROOM!!

  2. Loved this one! I'm not sure if my blog will ever be at the point where I'll think it's ready for a sponsorship program, but it's still very interesting to hear about, and who knows, maybe someday!

  3. Ooh I LOVED this video. I had sponsors on my blog a while ago, and I recently started it back up so this video was super helpful! Also, I'm glad to know that no one really takes it personally when you sponsor their blog one month but then the next you don't... I always feel so bad replying to e-mails from blogs I've sponsored asking if I'm going to sponsor them in the upcoming month. Sometimes I just don't have the $$!

  5. I am so thankful for this post! After getting unfortunate news from my 2011 tax return I thought I'd try out sponsorship and love all your tips! Blogging can be such hard work and I really like the idea of supporting others just like me out there. Thanks ladies!

  7. Wow ladies I've watched all of this series of posts that you've been doing this morning, they are fantastic. Recently I attended a bloggers workshop (I'm in Australia) where all sorts of different topics like this were covered. But I'm one of those people who loves to hear things over and over agin from different angles, because you can always pickup new information.

I really want to give the vlogging thing ago one day.

  8. I love these videos ladies, they are extremely helpful! I've been thinking about sponsorship a lot lately. Do you think it's better to sponsor other blogs before you start asking for sponsorship on your blog? Or are those two things that go hand and hand, and you should begin them together?

And I know you are way too busy for this, but have you guys ever thought about starting a group for established bloggers who want to be big sisters to those of us who are new to the blogging world? I love your passion for blogging, and your desire to help anyone who is new to all of this.

    Thank you Elycia & Chantilly!

    1. Thank you!
I don't think sponsoring other blogs is necessarily related to offering sponsorship on your own unless you want to do swaps.
For myself, I started sponsoring other blogs well before I offered sponsorship on my own. I definitely wasn't ready to have sponsors on my own blog but I wanted to increase traffic to my own by sponsoring blogs that I loved.
Definitely do not feel you have to start both at the same time.

That's a cute idea :) I wonder how it would work?

    2. Thanks for your feedback. That's kind of what I've been thinking, and it's good to hear that from someone who's been at it for a while.

Maybe a forum could be started, and established bloggers and new bloggers could have conversations about sponsorship, post ideas, planning, and all the things that going into blogging.

  9. Fantastic post as ever ladies - some really useful questions answered. I think expectations is such an important one - for both sponsoring another blog and offering sponsorship. I thought you handles this topic very diplomatically!

  12. A bit late to this post... but as you say, tutorials are relevant foreverrr! I've sponsored a few blogs, and it's funny the different levels of traffic that each have created. A couple of major (in my eyes) blogs brought in next to nothing, while blogs of a similar size to mine brought in a lot of visitors that spend a decent amount of time on my site. A bit of trial and error I guess. I'm cautious about offering a sponsorship or advertising programme as I don't want to disappoint... and putting a price on space is scary, I have a hard enough time pricing art. But this advice was super helpful in the thought process for this so thanks!
