hair :: my "mullet"

As I mentioned,  I am working on getting my hair healthy this year. As I also mentioned, I ended up with an accidental mini mullet and, while I am generally able to hide that I have this fancy hairstyle, I thought it would be funny to show the mullet in it's full glory. Well, maybe not it's full glory because I didn't want to use hairspray and stick myself with this hairstyle for the whole day. But...anyways. Enjoy.
Jealous? Sorry, I'm not going to tell you how I achieve this look because I couldn't deal with everyone looking as awesome as I do in these photos. Oh, and another look that I can pull off with this hair cut is that "too much bangs" look. Where they go forwards AND backwards.
Consider these my glamour shots.

  1. I swear...this is exactly the reason why I love your blog so. I just Love the fact that you are so honest and don't take yourself so serious. It's so refreshing!

    Love the hairstyle. Sexy mama...haha...

    hilarious

It took me two whole years to get my hair back to healthy, after bleaching it completely for my purple hair. I swore never to do it again....well...I guess I just can't live without it...I just started bleaching it again...very, very slowly though...I just can't resist the purple. I relaized that litterally doing oil treatments befor and after EVERY wash..is the only thing that helps me keep my hair in a normal looking healthy state.

  2. I don't know what you're talking about! You're looking great no matter what! ;-) I think it's because you're always so honest about yourself and the things you do and you're always making fun of all the little things. That makes you irresistible! :-)
Happy Birthday to your blog! May we'll be enjoying it for many many more years!

  5. I love your mullet!! And I love the color too!
A couple of years ago I went to the hairdressers to get my hair cut, I went in with shoulder-length hair and came out with a 2-inch mullet...By accident!! I was absolutely devastated and I couldn't do anything with it. So I got it all chopped to about an inch long and looked like a boy for a few months. Plus it was the middle of winter so I had to wear a beanie all the time because my ears were freezing!
Ever since then I've tried to be nice to my hair, but I'm still kinda scared of the hairdresser :/
It was pretty cool to have really different hair for a while though!
    Hope my story helped! :P
You look gorgeous! Oh and happy birthday LoveElycia!!

  7. You could always do something dramatic and cut the mullet into a short hair-do! I cut off all my hair this year and love it!!

  8. I think you rock that mullet! But..your talking to a girl with a half mohawk...on purpose. :) At least you have hair left...when I burnt mine up last summer, I shaved my head. Yep, shaved my head. :) Because I killed all of my hair to the root. Hearts, Janna Lynn

  14. I'm really not in a position to laugh - all my hair cuts make my head look triangular. But the colour is LOVELY and this post has put a smile on my face!

  24. bleach and heat are hair's worst enemies. and chemical straightening treatments. i know from experience.

i started fresh with mine and got a pixie cut, which is super fun to style! then after i got sick of it i let it grow back without dye (just henna) and minimal heat (the occasional blow-dry with a diffuser). now it's real healthy. and the growing out process was pretty fun, not nearly as bad as i thought it would be.

you're so cute, you can pull off any 'do!

  25. happy 2 years!
this is THE best post. so refreshing and fun. i agree with these ladies, a pixie cut would look great on you! but your mullet wont take long to grow if that is your goal.
    happy growing. and happy weekend.

  26. Hi,
    Happy Blog birthday.

Also you and your hair look stunning in these photos, I love the colour you have your hair, mine is supposed to be a burgundy red type colour, but alas I dyed it with a dark chestnut first so I am not having the best time trying to lighten it. I really don't want to put any bleaching stuff on it.

    You hair looks sooooo shiny!

  27. You should go short. I think it would look great on you! Plus I imagine the mullet is a bit of a pain. ;)

  28. Happy blog birthday!
THis is fantanstic. I think this is my favorite post ever from you. And also im super obbsessed with your hair color:)

    ReplyDelete
  29. hahaha! i'm dying! not because of how wonderfully amazing you look in these glamour shots (if only you had a lazer background!), but because i too once had this very haircut! i feel your long hair growing pain...its hard work to grow long hair!! i once offered to help a friend for a hair show at toni & guy...that might as well be the beginning and the end of the story. everything i told her i didn't want, she did. haha! later that night i snuck into an actual toni & guy salon and asked someone to fix it...when i left my mullet was a little more legit and not so 80's rocker (shorter on one side), but when i got home and dyed it dark dark dark it changed my whole look. when i woke up the next morning i was all elvira!! you totally pull off even a goofy style of this hair cut though...i didn't think it was possible. ;) while i waited for my hair to grow out i rocked little pig tails for months. pig tails, scarfs, and hats. i'm excited to see how you style the new do! you're the cutest! ;)

  30. Sadly - I have been in the exact same sitch.
Simultaneously making my hair healthy and growing it out = mullet. I tied it up pre' much all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Love, love, love the color! And the cut... whatever, not all that bad! You always know how to look great, even if the cut is not 100% the way you wanted it to be!
2 years of blogging, that's great! Even better that you still love doing it.

  32. Hair is just hair. It can be cool when it goes a bit haywire sometimes, as it forces you to get creative with styling and accessories.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I swear, miss, you're amazing. Even with a mullet you look incredibly CUTE! How do you do this?!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha amazing! Though my hair generally looks pretty polished, I too often wake up with a mullet, thanks to my snippy ways! I often have the issue of trying to figure out which bits belong in my bangs & which dont!

    ReplyDelete
  35. happy blog birthday! you have got more than two thousand reader! :)
    i like your hair color.
which hair do you like more? mullet or the bangs?
if my hair would be straight, i am sure i would have bangs. :DDDD (ok, i know it was a wrong sentence. i hope you understand :D)

  36. Oh gosh, you crack me up so much!!! I love that you are rocking your mullet. I mean, who of us hasn't had a really, reaaalllly bad haircut? I know I have. Kudos to you for showing it off in all it's glory. You are so awesome!

  39. Hey your post reminds me of that time when I had my hair cut too short... I wore synthetic dreadlocks until they grew long again! I loved it!
Check this, you would look so awesome with this kind of hairstyle!

And it won't hurt your hair at all!

  40. that is some pretty epic mullet.

i'm not going to lie though & say that i have never rocked the mullet. once upon a time i was a wee high school student who had to have the super trendy "scene girl" jagged, shaggy hair cut that was going around.

i took the picture into a chain hair salon (awesome choice. totally got what i deserved.) & walked out with a mullet.

it was awkward & took forever to grow out.

  45. I'm working towards turquoise, so I guess this year I'm working on getting my hair into a terrible condition lol.

I had a female mullet a couple of years back and loved it :)

  47. I got my hair cut over the xmas break and it pretty much turned into a mullet. I was told it will be awesome as it grows out (since my hair is insanely thick) but I have no clue how to style it now. I pretty much only wear it up and pin back the shorter layers on top. I'd LOVE to see how you do yours! And yay for healthy locks!

    ReplyDelete
  48. hahahha how great that you can post images that make you a little uncomfortable. But you still look super-cute :)
Mullets are classic, and one can never have enough bangs (I reckon you mean fringe if you're from my part of the world...

  49. Well you sure do pull off the mullet quite nicely :P I sometimes get an accidental mullet when I get my hair cut (cause I like my layers really short up top).
